This podcast has been a long time in the works. It started with an idea on a train ride in Mumbai. I counted three United, four Barcelona and another couple of Madrid jerseys. It got me thinking, what does it take to form a bond with a football club and why would someone who has never visited the ground, suddenly find themselves week in week out watching a team from another corner of the world.

What is that pivotal moment, where we find ourselves all of a sudden referring to the club as ‘we’.

I tried to speak to a few fellow football fans to try and understand this further. They each had a fascinating tale as to why they started following the clubs they do and from these discussions was born the idea for the Far Away Fan Podcast.

With each episode, I hope to speak to interesting people and the quirky stories of their choice of club.
