How do you choose a football club?

This podcast has been a long time in the works. It started with an idea on a train ride in Mumbai where I counted three United, four Barcelona and another couple of Madrid jerseys. It got me thinking, what does it take to form a bond with a club and why would someone who has never visited the ground, suddenly find themselves week in week out watching a team from another corner of the world.

What is that pivotal moment, where we find ourselves all of a sudden referring to the club as ‘we’.

I tried to speak to a few fellow football fans try to understand this further. And they each had a fascinating tale as to how and why they ended up following the clubs they do. And from these discussions was born the idea for Far Away Fan Podcast.

With each episode I hope to speak to interesting people and their quirky stories of their club.
